Motasem Abuzaid is a doctoral student in Politics at the University of Oxford (St Antony’s College). Prior to joining the Department of Politics and International Relations, he completed two master’s degrees in Sociology (Marmara University) and Arab Studies (Georgetown). His research is broadly concerned with the study of ethnic and political violence under authoritarian contexts in the Middle East. This includes interlinked projects based on a mixed-methods approach: the relation between urban violence and identity cleavages; collective action under high-risk repressive conditions; and sub-national affiliations in authoritarian coercive formations.
معتصم أبو زيد طالب دكتوراه في العلوم السياسية بجامعة أكسفورد (كلية سانت أنتوني). قبل التحاقه بقسم السياسة والعلاقات الدولية، أكمل درجتي ماجستير في علم الاجتماع (جامعة مرمرة) والدراسات العربية (جورج تاون). يهتم بحثه بشكل عام بدراسة العنف الاثني/الطائفي والسياسي في ظل السياقات الاستبدادية في الشرق الأوسط. يتضمن ذلك عدة مشاريع مترابطة تستند إلى نهج متعدد الأساليب: علاقة العنف المديني بتشكل الهويات؛ حسابات الحراك ضمن شروط قمعية؛ والانتماءات دون الوطنية في منظومتي الجيش والأمن في الإنظمة الاستبدادية

Munqeth Othman Agha | منقذ عثمان آغا
Munqeth Othman Agha is a PhD student at the School of International Studies, University of Trento. His research focuses on scrutinizing the impact of urban environment and state urban policies on divided cities during civil conflicts. He holds an MA in Conflict, Security and Development from the University of Sussex (UK) as a Chevening scholar and an MSc in Development Economics from the University of Clermont-Auvergne (France). He worked as an Analyst at COAR Global and as a researcher at the Syrian Memory Institute. His research interests include civil conflicts in urban areas, local governance, post-conflict reconstruction, and humanitarian and development aid, with a primary focus on the Syrian conflict.
